Hello, Friend
WELCOME TO THE SG BLOG! If you don’t know me, my name is Samantha and I am OVER THE MOON that you’re here reading this. I’ll tell you a little more about myself in a different post, but I wanted to first explain why I’m here and what I plan on sharing on this overdue blog.
I’ve wanted to give back in some way for awhile now (5 years to be exact) but have struggled to know what I could share and how I could contribute. So, I called a few of my best friends and found they unanimously come to me to be understood and validated, for family and marriage advice, for home design and fashion decisions, photography and social media pointers, health and fitness tips, and a mutual desire to improve spiritually, physically and mentally. So that’s what I want this blog to be! A place where we can talk candidly about everything from relationships to aesthetics and figure life out together.
To be honest (with you and with myself) I’ve been through a lot as I’m sure you have too. There have been times where I’ve been literally crippled by anxiety, heartbreak, and confusion. Times that were absolutely terrible and terrifying. Times where I felt no one could or would ever understand or help. But it was times like those that God would show his hand through a piece of art I would see, through a song that would come on, through a sympathetic stranger, or a random line of writing that would resonate deep enough to make me feel found. So, I want to be that for you. THAT is what this blog and I are here for.
I want to share my story so you can feel validated, understood, and comforted during your storms. I hope that it helps you feel you are not alone in going through your various seasons (both the sad and the happy). I'm sharing so you can learn from my mistakes as well as my successes. I hope to be there for you in spirit as you endure and to celebrate when you win because I know you will make it. The storm will pass. It always does. I promise because I’m living proof.
I also can’t wait to tell you guys the juicy version of how me and Adam met because it’s my favorite story. I can’t wait to tell you how I survived emotional and verbal abuse as a child, my cheating ex, eating disorders, and being homeless in high school. I’ll talk about how the heck I ended up on an LDS mission for a year and half in the middle of college and what no one tells you about them.
I can't wait for us to get into my tips and opinions on physical and mental health, food, fashion, and friendships. I’m definitely going to talk about being young and married and how I almost called off my wedding twice due to the worst anxiety I’ve ever experienced. I’ll get into how I deal with strained parental relationships, about my parents’ divorce(s) and how it’s affected me in my own relationship. Warning: I’m going to talk a lot about faith, about keeping your faith, about God, our relationship, how I built it, the role he’s played in my life and could play in yours if you let him :)
Buuut on a less serious note, I’m also going to help you wow your friends by teaching you how to pick the best restaurants, educate you on quality control, help you develop a successful morning routine, and furnish your house with the cutest stuff on a budget. I’m going to show you that it is possible to get over that guy and get back on your feet after that breakup. I’ll teach you how to take and edit bomb pictures from just your phone, help you plan your wedding, improve your relationships, manage work/life balance, and what to eat, read, and practice so you feel good inside and out.
I’m going to be very real here and as this blog evolves, I am determined to be the friend you never had or just an answer to your prayers.
Know that I already love you and that you’ve got this.
Your bff,
Sam
