Spring/Summer Shoe Trends
OK something you might not know about me is that I LOVE SHOES. When creating an outfit I usually start with the shoes and build the outfit around them. Shoes are such a statement and just make the outfit in my opinion. A look can be changed from feminine to edgy to sporty just by switching the shoes. I think my obsession with them started in junior high when I got into Jordans. I had this pair of blue and white retro 3’s that I TREASURED hahaha. Like I waddled so I wouldn’t crease them. Dying. Anyways, I still love a good sneaker but I’ve definitely branched out since then.
A person’s shoes are one of the first things I notice about them. You can tell a lot about someone based on the shoes they wear - from their sense of style to their taste in music. I always pay close attention to the latest in the shoe fashion world and have my eyes peeled for the most convincing designer dupes each season. Which brings me to the reason for this post! I’m gonna get your feet so trendy and so ready for this spring/summer! That is if we ever get to leave our houses...
This post was seriously so easy to write and I had so much fun! With how much time I’ve had to online window shop, I figured this was the best way for that time to have proven useful. Lol. Something else you should know about me: I am a curator with a very detail oriented eye. A lot of thought goes into the things I choose and recommend. I’ve examined each product from every angle and it is the best of it’s kind. Another thing: Once I get my mind set on something, I want that EXACT thing or I don’t want it at all. (Probably why I don’t have that many bags. If it ain’t designer I don’t want it! Hahaha..but actually.) Makes it easy as well as hard for my husband. I don’t like things that are “similar" to something I like. I like “perfect” and “spot on.” So when I say the shoes in this post are IT this season, I can assure you they are. They have passed my test and I want them allllll. (All photos are linked!)
Starting with Heels
When I think of spring fashion, I think of pastel fabrics, little straw bags, and dainty heels. Heels that will be worn from weddings to warm nights out on the town. These trends have got to be my favorite ones so far. Let’s get to it!
Huge trends I’ve noticed for heels this season: The toe is either square toe or a narrow, tapered square. Open-toe if it’s a heel or sandal. Strappy or mule style. Kitten to mid height with a flared heel. Very 90s inspired. Think: Rachel Green or every shoe a Reformation model has worn for the last 3 years. Go!
This blue is SO fun. Such a good color for spring and it has the perfect flared heel I was talking about and the narrow square toe. I would style these with some relaxed mom jeans and a little t-shirt or paired with a flow sundress!
Flip flop heel alert! These with a pair of 90s extra long, baggy vintage Levi’s or some long, tight, split-hem denim? I’m DROOLING.
These are THE BEST Bottega Venetta dupes I have seen yet. This will be the hottest shoe of the spring/summer season. It has the thin, delicate straps, the flared heel and the square toe. I’m in love. The black ones are on their way to me as I type this. hahaha. I plan on styling them with high waisted, relaxed Bermuda shorts and a little ribbed white t-shirt. CAN’T WAIT.
White is a pretty predictable trend for spring/summer but it never gets old. This is the perfect white mule. The design is flawless. Once again, we have the flared heel and the square toe. The mule covering covers just enough. This heel is so feminine and pretty. The embossed croc print adds a bit of edginess and makes it that much more interesting. I need asap.
A more affordable version of the first one. Almost identical.
These tied over some flowy/tapered trousers? OooooWieeee. Add to cart pls.
This is the heel that made me fall in love with the flip flop trend. Never thought I’d get on board but here I am, in love with THIS shoe. It’s a rare find. I can’t find another one exactly quite like it in white. It’s got a rounded toe and I’m usually partial to square toes but I’m actually super into it because of how 90s a rounded toe is. This shoe will instantly elevate any outfit and make you look effortlessly chic. It’s more of a casual shoe but it screams trendy. Somebody buy it for me pls.
Moving on to Sandals
Sandals are probably the most worn thing in the summer. Besides the usual pair of Birkenstocks or Rainbows that we all have sitting by the door, I’ve got you covered with these cuter options!
I actually bought these last season but they’re totally still relevant for this season. They’re such a good staple and look slightly nicer than your average brown leather sandal. I also love the fact that they slide on just for the sake of ease. The only thing is they don’t have any arch support so I wouldn’t recommend wearing these if you plan on walking around for hours.
The chunky tractor boot trend is not dead. It’s just transformed itself into a sandal. And since these are Doc Martens you know they’re the most comfortable sandal out there. These are also a very good dupe for the Chanel ones but they look original enough that they don’t look like they were actually made to copy the Chanel ones. If that makes sense… Like they just happen to look similar which resulted in a more affordable coincidence. Yay! I’d wear these with cycle shorts and a sweatshirt or oversized t-shirt.
Teva’s trendy cousin who reads Vogue and Hypebeast.
Also seeing a padded trend and I am SO HERE FOR IT. These come in white and black.
Platform is not dead either and the good new is the espadrille look will forever be a spring/summer style. I have these ones too. They are super comfy and super affordable too. I’ve worn them with jeans, shorts, and dresses. Despite the thick sole, they are extremely light weight so they’re nice to travel with and work with literally everything.
Next, Boots
Thankfully my obsession with boots can be a year round thing in most places. Right now I’m seeing a lot of looser shaft knee boots. They’re so chic and look cutest with shorter to midi length dresses and skirts or tight denim jeans tucked into them. I’ve always been a fan of the pointy toe look but I have this feeling that the square toe and arched heel is going to have a big moment soon thanks to the Celine Madame Boots Flare Square Toe Ankle Booties from fall 2018. So, keep your eyes out for that because it’s coming!
This boot is absolutely stunning and it’s on sale. I love the color and the thinner heel and pointed toe give it such a feminine look while the rounded top give me cowgirl vibes. YESYESYES.
An updated take on the classic Go Go boot. These would look so cute with a t-shirt dress or a drop waist midi.
These are so good. They look just like the Steve Madden ones that are already sold out. Good news is these are way cheaper too!
Can’t forget the white sneakers
I’m such a freak about white sneakers. Like I don’t think you can ever have too many. There are so many different styles and they all look good white. You can always find me in either a pair of white sneakers or black boots. Sorry!
Just ordered these yesterday! These are SO ADORABLE. The perfect summer sneaker. A classic with an updated twist with a platform sole. Can’t wait to style these with a t-shirt and some vintage Levi’s, Bermuda shorts, or cycle shorts.
Same story with the platform sole here. A more elevated twist to the classic Nike Air Force 1 low top sneaker.
I have these and have worn the crap out of them. They’re the perfect addition to any outfit. I’ve worn mine with sweats, jeans, skirts and dresses. My fave way to wear them is with little white crew socks.
Okay I know dad shoes are pretty controversial but Balenciaga really took the trend and ran with it. Meet the OG dad shoe. This is where all the inspo came from. If they didn’t only come in men’s sizes, I’d have a pair already. They’re perfect with any vintage Levi, a white tee and an oversized blazer or any oversized coat. So so good.
Another similar option. I get major European vibes with this one.
That’s it for now! Like I said, this post was a BLAST to write and I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did creating it! Have fun shopping ladies!

Sam
